Billions of computers won’t run Windows 11 because Microsoft requires a TPM 2.0 security chip. These computers will run Windows 10 until October of 2025, when Windows 12 (or whatever Microsoft decides to call it) becomes available. After that, these old computers are destined for the landfill or run some other quality OS like Linux Mint.
Microsoft’s stand on TPM 2.0 is now in doubt since a vulnerability was found in the chips as reported by Tom’s Guide.
I chuckled at the Hubris of Microsoft as they make one mistake after another in their OS.
I have one computer that runs Windows 11 which is used to create greeting cards. I can wait until Microsoft offers, yet another security fix, this time for the TPM 2.0 problem.
